I've always believed that the success of the Red Delicious was due entirely to good marketing.  If they were named anything else, no one would buy them.  They're mushy and flavorless.  Yuck.</description>

To be fair, only 4 of their 19 apples got anything less than "very good," so I don't know that they had the most exacting standards. Those crappy golden delicious apples also got "very good," which is a clear indication that the reviewer was on crack.</description>
