Dreamgirls (2006) was on pace for 5 stars until Jamie Foxx started singing in an alley and the movie turned full bore into a musical. I know it was originally a musical, and I really don’t mind musicals, it’s just that this one wasn’t very good. Eddie Murphy’s performance was outstanding, a throwback to the talent he displayed in the mid-80s before starting to make kid’s movies.
