Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Chapter 13
Happy Saturday.
Chapter 13: The Muggle-Born Registration Commission
Well, this is pretty dark. The Ministry’s policies towards Muggles and the Muggle-born are exceptionally evil, aren’t they?
The plan to infiltrate the Ministry turns out to have been pretty laughably thin, considering how much time they spent on it. Impersonate some Ministry employees and get inside, and then…? Wing it? Nice planning, really.
On the plus side, they got the Horcrux and Mad-Eye’s mad eye. They warned Arthur Weasley that he was being watched. They saved some Muggle-borns. It looks, however, like they didn’t quite get away. I expect chapter 14 to be really depressing.

In Book 5 we were lead to believe that Dolores Umbridge was bureaucracy evil, not Voldemort evil. I wonder whether she is STILL bureaucracy evil only, or whether she is a real supporter of Voldemort. She certainly seems to support his key policies.
This is all deeply disturbing. I can’t believe how horrible I thought it was when she was banning study groups at Hogwarts. That was small potatoes compared to these horrors. You almost expect Voldemort to show up with a toothbrush mustache next.
