Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Chapter 17
Chapter 17: Bathilda’s Secret
Well, that was depressing. Bagshot’s dead, Voldemort has the picture of the thief, and Harry’s wand is destroyed.
Sheesh.
Harry did finally get to visit his parents’ house, and see the sign with all of the messages of support. And we’ve now seen the entire murder of the Potters from Voldemort’s perspective. But Harry and Hermione have not only made no progress, things have gotten worse. We’re halfway through the book. Let’s get it together, kids.
No spoilers for later chapters in the comments. I’m too depressed.

No kidding. This is entirely demoralizing. I really hoped this chapter would yield the sword and one destroyed horcrux before it was over. Sigh.
