Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Chapter 19

Chapter 19: The Silver Doe

Now we’re talking! Action! This is what we’ve been waiting for.

First of all, OK: I admit it. I’m glad Ron’s back.

Just why exactly Excalibur Gryffindor’s sword is lying in a pool in the middle of a forest a short walk from Harry and Hermione’s tent is a bit of mystery, as is the nature and source of the silver doe ex machina. More questions are raised than answered by this episode: Has the sword been there all along? Where did the doe come from? Is it a Patronus? Whose? Does J. K. Rowling think we aren’t familiar with Le Morte d’Arthur?

The newly revealed powers of the Deluminator are pretty intriguing, too.

So, it’s been nineteen chapters, and at last our heroes have found the sword and destroyed one Horcrux. Three to go?

No spoilers for later chapters in the comments!

Plus Harry has a wand again! I wonder if not having your own wand reduces your powers?
