On our drive up to New Hampshire this weekend, Rachel and I found ourselves on Rt. 3 driving behind a car with the vanity plate TOTNKOPF. For a while I considered the possibility that it meant something else: maybe the driver had a young kid and was a police officer with a wacky sense of humor whose last name began with “F.” Then we pulled along side and saw the red SS decal on the driver’s side door. Creepy! (And of course, the car was a Volkswagen.)

VERY scary
That is pretty scary. I wonder if they’re still buying all the Wal Mart skull t shirts that haven’t been taken of the shelf. You could have given them the benefit of the doubt and thought they were just Teutonic Grateful Dead fans until the decal on the door.
Decidedly creepy. Although Tot n’ Kop F is a clever reinterpretation — if hopelessly optimistic.
I’m sorry to note that you did not find my suggestion for an appropriate retaliation worth mentioning: to follow the car and then gefilte fish it when no one is watching.
