A blog with delusions of grandeur

10,000 BC (2008)

I spent the first 20 minutes of this movie waiting for Colin Farrell to show up on screen - he's not in the movie, but I'm convinced the trailer was digitally altered to cause that confusion (a friend of mine thought the same thing) - and when he wasn't, I realized just how crappy the movie was going to be. When you need Colin Farrell to save your bloated, CGI'd trainwreck, you're in for a world of hurt. Definitely skip this one.

In Bruges (2008)

On the 1-10 scale of exceeding expectations, In Bruges was a 13. In Bruges had an edge to it and an ending that make clear it's not an American movie. And, oh yeah, Colin Farrell was great in this movie.

Alexander (2004)

Colin Farrell has turned into the type of actor who can reasonably carry a 90 minute film. Unfortunately, Alexander was two hours and forty five minutes. Oliver Stone's epic was too muddied with flashbacks and strange colors, though the actions scenes excelled.
